How it works
Every job on GetFixt starts with a photograph.
That photograph might be a broken boiler, a fuse board due its inspection, or the wall where an EV charger will go. This page explains what happens between the photograph and the finished work.
The photograph is read
Photograph equipment or its data plate and GetFixt identifies it in about four seconds. It returns the make, model and part number, plus the equipment type, its likely age and its condition. Photograph a space instead (a garden, a bathroom, a loft) and GetFixt scopes the project from what it can see and what you tell it.
When GetFixt cannot read something confidently, it says so, and your tradesperson confirms it on site. GetFixt is not a diagnostic tool. Diagnosis is the tradesperson's expertise, and it stays that way.
The right questions are asked
The questions depend on what was identified. A boiler brings gas safety and heating system questions. A light fitting brings indoor or outdoor, mounting type and access height. An EV charger brings parking location and electrical supply. You are never asked a question that does not apply to your job.
The job is prepared before anyone quotes
Your answers, photographs and site details are organised into a single brief and sent to the right trade, from electricians and plumbers through to landscapers and locksmiths. A fire alarm goes to a fire and security specialist, not a general electrician.
Every tradesperson on GetFixt has submitted ID, insurance and trade qualifications (Gas Safe, NICEIC, NAPIT, MCS and others) for review before they can see a single job. To quote, a tradesperson pays £2.50 to unlock the full job details, or nothing at all on a Pro subscription. They quote from the brief, so there is no first visit just to look at the problem. GetFixt takes no commission on the work, so quotes are not inflated to cover a platform's cut.
You compare and choose
Quotes arrive as notifications, so there is no chasing. They sit side by side, with each tradesperson's verification status, reviews and response time in view. You can message any tradesperson who has quoted to ask questions before you decide.
Your full address stays hidden until you accept a quote. Before that, tradespeople see only the area. Once you accept, the tradesperson receives the full address, and you arrange dates and times between yourselves, in the app or off it. The work is booked.
The building keeps the record
When a tradesperson installs or services equipment through GetFixt, they register it to the property. You see everything they register: the equipment details, the installation date, the completion photo as proof of handover, when the next service is due, and when the warranty runs out. The app reminds you before a service is due or a warranty expires, so nothing relies on your memory.
You control which contractors can see the record, every view is logged, and you can download all of it whenever you want. When owners, tenants or contractors change, the record stays with the building.
And the loop closes
After the job, you rate the tradesperson. Your review sits beside their next quote, for the next person deciding. That is how the good ones rise.
